The original is a folding screen painted in the late Edo period by Oosuka Seikoh, a famous painter of Aizu history. It depicts a very elaborate and realistic scene in which the elite of the Aizu domain are lined up in ranks, holding up their banners, while a clan member on horseback is trying to catch a deer or boar in the center of the scene.

Aizu Higashiyama Onsen is a historic hot spring resort, one of the three favorite destinations in Ou, which is said to have been opened about 1,300 years ago by the priest Gyoki, a famous monk.
